Joan Stambaugh is Professor of Philosophy at the City University of New York. She is the author of several works dealing with Buddhist and Existentialist topics, including Impermanence is Buddha-Nature: Dogen’s Understanding of Temporality (1990), The Other Nietzsche (1994), and The Formless Self (1999). Dr. Stambaugh is in the process of translating the major works of the renowned German Existentialist philosopher Martin Heidegger into English. Her translations of Heidegger’s Being and Time (1996), Identity and Difference (2002), On Time and Being (2002), and The End of Philosophy (2003) have all been received with critical acclaim. She also contributed a foreword to
