Diana Eck is Professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies at Harvard University, and has been closely involved in inter-faith dialogue, especially through the World Council of Churches. She is the author of Encountering God: A Spiritual Journey from Bozeman to Banaras and Banaras, City of Light, and is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal. Her article "The Imagined Community" appears in Light From The East: Modern Western Encounters with Eastern Traditions.
