“Tradition Betrayed: The False Prophets of Modernism,” presented by Dr. Harry Oldmeadow
Video Description
Dr. Harry Oldmeadow delivered his talk “Tradition Betrayed: The False Prophets of Modernism” at the Sacred Web 2006 conference “Tradition in the Modern World,” held in Edmonton, Canada. Dr. Oldmeadow’s presentation was an extensive re-assessment of certain aspects of the modernist doctrines of Darwin, Marx, Freud, and Nietzsche. This is because the writings of these thinkers characterize a modernist mentality dominated by ‘pseudo-mythologies’ that, “unlike genuine mythologies do not disclose the Real, but actually hide It.” The presentation includes numerous quotes from the above-mentioned thinkers juxtaposed with quotes from scriptures and Traditionalist authors. Dr. Harry Oldmeadow is an educator (formerly Coordinator of Philosophy and Religious Studies at La Trobe University, Bendigo, Australia), scholar, writer, and editor. He is one of the foremost interpreters of the work of Perennialist author Frithjof Schuon.
