tanzih (tanzīh)
(Language: Arabic)
Short Description: Remoteness, exaltation
Long Description: Affirmation of the Divine transcendence; the contrary is tashbīh : comparison, similitude, affirmation of symbolism. The two terms are to be found together in such sayings of the Qur’ān as, “Nothing is like unto Him (=tanzīh) and it is He who sees and hears (=tashbīh).”
