Long Description: Japanese term for transfer of merit, which in traditional thought was directed from the devotee to the Buddha so as to apply one’s merit toward attaining Enlight­enment. In Shin Buddhism, the direction is changed and Dharmakara-Amida’s merit is turned toward beings to enable them to achieve Enlightenment.
