
Mary Midgley
Mary Midgley was Professor of Philosophy at Newcastle University and is the author of numerous works exploring the history and philosophy of modern science. Her special interests include the development of moral principles concerned with the welfare of non-human species. Her article “Putting Nature in Her Place” can be found in the anthology, The Betrayal of Tradition: Essays on the Spiritual Crisis of Modernity, edited by Harry Oldmeadow. It comes from one her best known works, Science as Salvation (1992). Her most recent work is Science and Poetry.
