
Fuad S. Naeem
Fuad S. Naeem is a Pakistani scholar and educator now residing in the U.S. Dr. Naeem’s article “A Traditional Islamic Response to the Rise of Modernism” appears in the World Wisdom anthology Islam, Fundamentalism, and the Betrayal of Tradition: Essays by Western Muslim Scholars. He has published in numerous academic journals and given presentations and lectures at various conferences and institutions.
Dr. Naeem received his Ph.D. from Georgetown University. He has an M.A. in Hinduism and Islam from the George Washington University, where he studied with Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr, and is a specialist in the Islamic intellectual trends of the Indian subcontinent. His fields of interest include later Islamic philosophy and Sufism, and the encounter between Islam and modernity, as well as Muslim encounters with other religions.
Dr. Fuad S. Naeem is currently Assistant Professor of Comparative Theology and Director of the Encountering Islam Initiative at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He also taught at Gustavus Adolphus College, Williams College, and Georgetown University, where he also worked at the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding.
